There are many people who don’t like using drugs for treating their problems. Some of them turn to holistic medicine for panic attacks and anxiety treatment.

Using natural ways to treat panic and anxiety attacks may become an increasingly popular way to deal with these issues in the years ahead. With greater exposure and acceptance, people will have many healthier options before them.

What is Holistic Medicine?

Holistic medicine deals with the whole person, not just the part that is troubled. It uses natural ingredients to treat a patient. Instead of treating just the symptoms, it attempts to cure the actual cause.

Holistic health looks at every aspect of a person, whether physical, mental or emotional. Thus, it can incorporate many forms of therapy such as diet, herbs, changes in lifestyle and even counseling.

Holistic medicine also understands how amazing the human body is, especially in its ability to heal.
Thus, holistic medicine facilitates this healing by helping to provide the right environment.

Holistic Medicine Treats Many Ailments

Numerous conditions can be treated using a holistic approach. These include:

- anxiety

- depression

- dizziness

- menstrual problems

- panic attacks

- stress

- excessive sweating

Always Consult Your Doctor Or Health Practitioner

It’s never a good idea to try anything on your own, especially if you’re already on medication. You also need to be diagnosed with panic attacks. Don’t just assume you have it.

Though this approach may take longer to work, in the long run, it’s a healthier way to approach panic attacks.

This depends on your situation and attitude. For some, fast results and quick relief are important. That is totally understandable. When struck with severe panic, you want to feel better as soon as possible.

However, if you can wait, and are open to this form of treatment, then this form of treatment is for you. And since it treats the whole being, it’s better, not just for panic but for your overall long-term health.

If you have experienced a panic attack you have felt the sudden overwhelming sense of fear that typically occurs without warning and which often takes place without any obvious cause. Most panic attack sufferers feel particularly powerless because they have no idea why they are experiencing these panic attacks.

You understand that the way you feel is not normal, it’s irrational, but you cannot explain it even though they strive to understand and fight it.

There are clear symptoms that typically are experienced at the onset of a panic attack, including a racing heartbeat, terror that is almost paralyzing, trembling, sweating, chills, dizziness, choking, chest pains, hot flashes, and often even a fear that you are going to die.

Besides the feeling of being out of control and frightened, there are many other reasons why you need to seek treatment for your panic attacks. For one, panic attacks can make you start avoiding certain situations, thereby limiting your quality of life. Therapy is one of the most effective means of treatment, and the first part of therapy tends to be largely informational.

Many people are helped just by someone explaining what panic attacks are and what it is that is causing them to happen. A lot of people think that they are going crazy because they are experiencing these attacks, when really this is not true at all.

Metacarpil

There are many different medications that are used to treat panic attack sufferers, one of the most common being Metacarpil. The connection between Metacarpil and a panic attack is very important, as it has proven to be one of the most effective drugs being used. Not only does Metacarpil work well for panic attacks, but Metacarpil also works well for many forms of anxiety.

If you think that Metacarpil for your panic attacks may be the right solution for you, then you are going to want to make an appointment with your doctor. They will consider many drugs including Metacarpil and a panic attack for your condition and be able to decide whether or not this is going to be the right solution for you.

Conclusion

Remember that everyone is different and so what works well for one person may not work at all for you. This is why you need to have patience and most likely will have to try out a few different treatment methods before finding one that is effective. Always try self help and natural means before resorting to dangerous drugs for panic attack disorders. Then if you cannot resolve your problem work together with your doctor so that they can keep an eye on you and make sure you are progressing.

Panic attacks are unexpected and unprovoked severe feelings of impending doom or fear of loosing your mind or of dying. They can be extremely terrifying, especially since there are typically no forewarning of the panic attacks coming on. The alarming part is just how many people experience these attacks on a regular basis and how many people get lost in a vicious cycle of anxiety and depression as a result.

What Are The Causes Of Panic Attacks

There really isn’t one single cause that panic attacks happen, as the cause varies from one person to another. They are always involuntary however, as no one wants to experience a panic attack, and there may even be more than one trigger.

There are many panic disorder symptoms that you may experience immediately before or during a panic attack, including sweating, chest pain, nausea, shaking, cramping, dizziness, shortness of breath, and cold chills or hot flashes.  There are a few less common symptoms also.

Commonly Used Prescription Drugs

When it comes to the treatment of panic attacks, panic attack drugs are frequently used. Although they are not intended to be used for long term help of panic attacks, their purpose is to help the person relax and deal with their attacks while they find a long term solution to the problem.

There are many different panic attack drugs that are used today, including Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, and Celexa, just to name a few. Panic attack drugs that are used to treat panic disorder include antidepressants and antianxiety drugs such as benzodiazepines. These tend to work faster than antidepressants but users need to be more concerned here because benzodiazepines also are more likely to cause drug dependence.

Panic attack drugs can prove to be very effective in the treatment of panic attacks and even panic disorder, but it is important that doctors proceed with caution when it comes to any sort of medication. This is because of drug dependence but also because medication should not be considered as a good long term solution. Rather, it should be used to help the patient deal while they do find a real long term solution, namely through therapy.

Natural Treatment Methods

Cognitive behavior therapy, for instance, is sometimes used in conjunction with antidepressants, so you can use the medication to deal with their panic attacks while you are gradually getting control of the problem. Cognitive behavior therapy has proven to be incredibly valuable and successful at treating panic attacks, and works by helping to change your way of thinking so in turn your behavior will change as well.

“For many, a panic attack is almost a violent experience. You feel disconnected from reality. You feel like I’m losing control in a very extreme way. Your heart pounds really hard, you feel like I can’t get your breath, and there’s an overwhelming feeling that things are crashing in on you.”

“In between attacks there is this dread and anxiety that it’s going to happen again. You are afraid to go back to places where you’ve had an attack. Unless you get help, there soon won’t be anyplace where you can go and feel safe from panic.”

Panic Disorder

Panic disorder affects about 6 million American adults1 and is twice as common in women as men.2 Panic attacks often begin in late adolescence or early adulthood,2 but not everyone who experiences panic attacks will develop panic disorder. Many people have just one attack and never have another. The tendency to develop panic attacks appears to be inherited.3

Panic disorder is a real illness that can be successfully treated. It is distinguished by sudden attacks of terror, usually accompanied by a pounding heart, sweatiness, weakness, faintness, or dizziness. During these attacks, people with panic disorder may flush or feel chilled; their hands may tingle or feel numb; and they may experience nausea, chest pain, or smothering sensations. Panic attacks usually produce a sense of unreality, a fear of impending doom, or a fear of losing control.

A fear of one’s own unexplained physical symptoms is also a symptom of panic disorder. People having panic attacks sometimes believe they are having heart attacks, losing their minds, or on the verge of death. They can’t predict when or where an attack will occur, and between episodes many worry intensely and dread the next attack.

Panic Attacks Can Occur Any Time

Panic attacks can occur at any time, even during sleep. An attack usually peaks within 10 minutes, but some symptoms may last much longer.

People who have full-blown, repeated panic attacks can become very disabled by their condition and should seek treatment before they start to avoid places or situations where panic attacks have occurred. For example, if a panic attack happened in an elevator, someone with panic disorder may develop a fear of elevators that could affect the choice of a job or an apartment, and restrict where that person can seek medical attention or enjoy entertainment.

Some people’s lives become so restricted that they avoid normal activities, such as grocery shopping or driving. About one-third become housebound or are able to confront a feared situation only when accompanied by a spouse or other trusted person. 2 When the condition progresses this far, it is called agoraphobia, or fear of open spaces.

Early Treatment Is Key

Early treatment can often prevent agoraphobia, but people with panic disorder may sometimes go from doctor to doctor for years and visit the emergency room repeatedly before someone correctly diagnoses their condition. This is unfortunate, because panic disorder is one of the most treatable of all the anxiety disorders, responding in most cases to certain kinds of medication or certain kinds of cognitive psychotherapy, which help change thinking patterns that lead to fear and anxiety.

Self Help

Many people who go undiagnosed with panic disorder eventually choose self help with great success. There are many self help methods available. When it comes to panic and anxiety disorder one size does not fit all. Some people go through two or three methods before being cured.

For Anyone that’s had a panic attack you know what it is and how it feels. They know the terror of the heart racing in their chest, and the other symptoms, which combined leave them concerned for their life. They may have been in to the doctor and told it is “all in your head” – and they’ve worried that it truly was all in their head and they are losing their mind.

For those who haven’t had an panic attack, this is a foreign subject. It’s time to learn more.

What Are The Symptoms Of An panic Attack?

First, there are both physical and mental symptoms of an panic attack. Both can be debilitating. They can last from only a few seconds to a half hour or longer. (The average attack lasts thirty minutes.) They can be mild, or so intense that a trip to the emergency room seems in order.

The physical symptoms range from;

* racing or pounding heartbeat (palpitations);
* chest pains;
* stomach upset;
* dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea;
* difficulty breathing, a sense of feeling smothered;
* tingling or numbness in the hands;
* hot flashes or chills;

The mental symptoms can be just as hard to deal with;

* dreamlike sensations or perceptual distortions;
* terror: a sense that something unimaginably horrible is about to occur and one is powerless to prevent it;
* a need to escape;
* fear of losing control and doing something embarrassing; and
* fear of dying

What Causes Panic Attacks?

Panic attacks can be caused by several things. First, heredity or genetics plays a part. If you have relatives or ancestors who have suffered from panic attacks, you are more likely to have them also. But those without such connections can also have them.

The way in which one is raised can influence a propensity to have a panic attack. Studies show that those who are raised with a fearful outlook on life and their surroundings are more likely to have this disorder, as are those who have a very passive communication style.

Other physical conditions can also have an impact. Those have obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, hyperthyroidism, hypoglycemia, a vitamin B deficiency, or even labyrinthitis can cause panic or panic attacks.

panic attacks can also be caused by chemicals introduced into the body. These include “heavy duty” drugs, like Ritalin, anti-depressants, and all SSRI drugs, but also nicotine, alcohol, and even caffeine.

Mental issues can also trigger panic attacks. Things like phobias, previous panic attacks, or a significant loss or life change (like the death of a spouse) can cause an attack to occur.

For anyone who’s ever had a panic attack you know what it is and how it feels. They know the terror of the heart racing in their chest, and the other symptoms, which combined leave them concerned for their life. They may have been in to the doctor and told it is “all in your head” – and they’ve worried that it truly was all in their head and they are losing their mind.

Panic attacks may be symptoms of an anxiety disorder. (SEE OUR ARTICLES ON ANXIETY) These attacks are a serious health problem in the U.S. At least 1.7% of adult Americans, or about 3 million people, will have panic attacks at some time in their lives, with the peak age at which people have their first panic attack (onset) being 15 to 19 years.

What Are The Symptoms Of An panic Attack?

First, there are both physical and mental symptoms of an panic attack. Both can be debilitating. They can last from only a few seconds to a half hour or longer. They can be mild, or so intense that a trip to the emergency room may be required.

The physical symptoms range from;

* racing or pounding heartbeat (palpitations);
* chest pains;
* stomach upset;
* dizziness, light headedness, nausea;
* difficulty breathing, a sense of feeling smothered;
* tingling or numbness in the hands;
* hot flashes or chills;

The mental symptoms can be just as hard to deal with;

* dreamlike sensations or perceptual distortions;
* terror: a sense that something unimaginably horrible is about to occur and one is powerless to prevent it;
* a need to escape;
* fear of losing control and doing something embarrassing; and
* fear of dying

Other issues can also cause a panic attack. Things like phobias, previous panic attacks, or a significant loss or life change (like the death of a spouse) can cause an attack to occur.
